replace 33w transformer

I have a 33w transformer that runs my sprinkler system controller. I have used the bottom plug, however I am unable to use the top plug for a regrigerator because the plug cord comes straight down from the plug into the transformer. Can I replace the transformer with a different style that is not as large? Or do they make a outlet where the grounds are at opposite ends to accomodate plugs going in opposite directions?

They sell short (less than 1 foot) extension cords that you plug the transformer in to and then the extension with a normal plug into the wall.

I haven't used one myself, but they sell rotating outlets:

with a bit of wiremold or a remodel box, you could add a second duplex receptacle a couple inches away. If you want more details, ask - someone will certainly be able to help!

Or replace the single gang box with a double gang box and a second duplex receptacle. A bit of patience usually easy enough to get the old box out and enlarge the opening for a double gang old work box. If needed you could even align one receptacle ground down and one ground up.

Thank you to all for your advise. I have wired junction boxes before. Double gang box sounds like the way to go.

Thanks again.
