Normally the clothes closet are required the luminarie to be enclosed { no bare bulbs }
you can have the swtich on the door or have a door switch so anytime you open up the door the luminaire automatically come on.
You can tap into one of the lighting or bedroom circuit but do not tap into bathroom , kitchen circuits { the codes are very spefic on this matter }
or you can run new circuit to the luminaire.
The best location for the luminarie useally right above the door when you go in the clothe closet
Merci,Marc

The flourscent luminaire will work fine with it.
as far for the switch slection you can have manual switch or have one with motion sensor { I useally don't used very often } otherwise a maganitic door switch will do the trick as well.

Battery powered touch lights are also very effective and cheap for use in closets. By the time you're done you could have over $100 wrapped up in a fluorescent light whereas a battery light is $10 with no labor to install.
