Unhappy wiring of home thermostat

I currently have a 859M room thermostat that controls the radiant heating for my living room. I want to replace it and chose the Honeywell RTH7500D programmable thermostat. I was following the directions, but when I exposed the wires from the old thermostat, I found only 2 - one red and one black. There are no labels on them or on the old thermostat that match the new one. Did I pick the wrong thermostat or can I still make this work?

Thanks,
Samantha

Your wiring indicates that you have heat only - no air conditioning. The model you brought is for both. You could wire it using just the heat portion of the wiring, but a heat only model thermostat should save you some dollars and be easier to wire up.
