outdoor surface mount receptacle box

How do you mount the 'typical' grey weatherproof aluminum boxes? They don't have mounting holes in the back of them to drive screws, but appear to have two knockouts for screws? (at least the ones I looked at at Lowe's...)

NM-B is OK running into the back of them if they are surface mounted to the exterior of the house?

Do I need to use a nipple out of the back of them to extend through the siding and sheathing, or is a NM clamp acceptable if threaded directly into the back of the box and the perimeter of the box caulked?

Thanks,
Rick

As you have seen there are small holes in the back of the boxes. I just punch thru these with a scratch awl.
I normally drill 2 3/4" holes side by side overlapping so the NM connector will fit in the hole. I caulk the top and sides of the box where it meets the house. I do not use a sleeve.
