Sub panel grounding

Hi,

I have a question regarding sub panel grounding.
I have a 200 amp panel on my service pole, it has feed through lugs which feed a 200 amp panel in my home. The outdoor panel is grounded at it's location and the indoor panel is seperately grounded at it's location. Since it is really a sub panel, the ground and neutrals will be seperated. My question is; do I have to have a ground wire between the two panels since they are each grounded at their locations?

Thanks,

Joe

It depends on which version of the electrical code your municipality follows and possibly also depends on the policies of your local power company.

You can't go wrong with the four-wire feeder, however the three-wire feeder may be allowed under certain circumstances.

Thanks for your reply, I think I will run the ground to be on the safe side.

Thanks!
