Step down Transformer
Hello
I need three phase a stepdown transformer from 600volts to 480volts
I have an arc welder that requires 29AMPS AT 480 VOLTS AND 15 KW
Would this transformer be sufficient to run the welder?
3 Phase Dry Type Autotransformer

An electrician will be wiring this for me

That autotransfomer should work without much issue but make sure you bonded properly { the canadian code are little diffrent for using the autotransfomer set up }
I look at the nameplate stated 45 KVA that is plenty for it.

Sure Electricguy I am glad to help with this matter.,
Let me add one more item before I forget anything else and get my rearend screw up on this one .,
on secondary side you will need overcurrent protection device like either breaker or fuse double check the nameplate rating sometime will listed max OCPD rating go with that figures.

overcurrent
than x guys for replying!
I believe my welder has over current protection built into it, but I'm not quite sure what that is? Does that mean if the welder shorts out it will protect the transformer from burning out?
I appreciate your help!

The reason why I mention secondary side protection due the diffrence of voltage and current rating and if something go wrong with welder the actaual fuse or circuit breaker will trip or blow the fuse before the autotransfomer get damaged.
I know most welder do have some sorta of protection in there but OCPD is not one of them that why I mention very well and the electrician will know what size OCPD to use for that welder.
