Wires manufacturing date?

Wires manufacturing date?

Anyone knows why electric wires have the manufacturing date stamped on the jacket?

Probably for quality control purposes. It would make a product recall easier for example if a particular batch of wire had a defect.

Primarly for quanity control and manufacter date when they make the conductor or cable and manufacter plant code.

Believe it or not in these days the law enforcement will use those numbers for tracking stolen wires also.

Yes it can, if something were to go wrong, Your Insurance company and the local AHJ could use those dates to "Validate" authorized installations.
