Hot tub motor hum

220v heater motor works for hours continuously when started cool but when temperature is reached and on /off cycling to maintain temperature, it doesn't re-start ... It hums, get very hot and overtemp sensor/breaker on the motor shuts it down. The motor shaft turns freely, all terminal connections are clean with good contact. Thought it might be the capacitor but starts fine when cool. It's only after operating for hours and cycling required that it doesnt re-start. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? ...

Thanks,

Mike

Capacitor may have a thermal sensitive fault. If all connections are good replace capacitor and see if that fixes the problem. (No way really to test the capacitor especially if a thermal fault except replacing it.)
