electric motor question
Greetings from New Hampshire, I want to go out and purchase an A/C motor strong enough to turn a spit rod that will roast a pig approximately 100lbs. The motor should be around 6rpm. Once I purchase the motor I know how to fabricate the rest of the rig. Can you guys please help me with the terminology of what I will be asking for in a motor? And yes, you are all invited to the roast! THANKS. -Bob

You need a gear motor. My uneducated guess would be a ¼ horse power would be enough. You may not get as low as 6 rpm so you will need to use a chain drive to further reduce it. Check with Graingers.
