added light switch in carport runs only if store room light switch is on
i have a light with switch in the carport, but you must turn on the store room light for power to carport light and switch to work. i took the store room switch out and tried to make the carport sit. work alone, but it will not..the store room switch runs a light in there and i believe that power originates at the light and then goes to the switch. what do i have to do to be able to get power to the carport light without always turning on the store room light? i believe that the carport light runs to the outter switch and directly to the inner switch.

You need to find a real source of power. The switch is probably just a switch loop. Is there just one cable with a black and white wire to the switch? Remember all white wires aren't neutrals.
