partial power to electric range

In the process of finishing the basement, had to shut off the main breaker to the house. Once we turned on the main breaker the stove/oven is now only getting partial power. The light turns on inside and when you turn a burner on or the oven on the clock then acts to work (shuts off as soon as you shut off the burner) and nothing heats up. I thought at first it was the oven and I went and bought a brand new one, the brand new one is still doing the same far as electrical testers i have everything is testting out fine.....any suggestions?

I have a huntch that your range did lost the netural conductor there.

Check the recepatle for loose connection and the breaker box as well.

If a real fuse box let us know ASAP we will steer you in correct drection.

Which type of range plug you have ?

Let us know we will go from there.

And do you have voltmeter with you ?

I would check to see if your dryer or water heater was working if electric.

When you say you checked voltage, were you checking hot to hot or hot to neutral?

You may have an issue with the main breaker. Try turning it back off and turning it back on but turn it on swiftly.

I would add, especially if you have a Bryant, Crouse-Hinds or Murray panel.
