Question Air conditioner and yard light

Hi everyone, I'm asking this question for my dad...A few nights ago he noticed that as soon as the air conditioner cuts on in the house, the yard light outside goes off for about 30 seconds and then comes back on. Any clue as to why? Thanks!

Could be normal or could be a bootleg feed from the outside AC unit to the light. Less likely a failing component in the AC. Not rally enough info to give a answer. What size is the main breaker box? Id the yard light on a separate circuit? Do other lights dim?

The yard light is on a separate breaker on its own, that's what the strange thing is. All of the other lights dim when the AC cuts on, they always have. But the yard light just starting doing this.

Very simeple if you have High Pressure Soduim dusk to dawn luminaire the bulb is about end of life anyway it will cycle if the voltage get too low to keep the arc estabsed { stay on } or the arc voltage get too high the point the ballast can not able keep up with voltage level it will go off and it will come back on anywhere from 30 second to couple minute with HPS but with pulse start MH it will be about 2 to 4 minutes to restrike { relit } it up.

Best thing you can do is put in new HPS bulb with correct wattage that useally clear up that issue.

Merci,Marc
