Unhappy Need help with an open ground

I have a bathroom recptacle that comes on and off at random. When the recptacle is dead, everything else on the same circuit works fine.

I had an electrician come in and he checked all the other recptacles on the circuit and tightened some loose wires. He found a GFI in the garage that controlled the circuit and reset it. hE CHECKED THE BREAKER IN THE PANEL AND SAID THAT WAS ok ALSO. As soon as he left, the recptacle went dead again. Even when the recptaCle is dead the others on the circuit still work.

The GFI never trips.

I'm at my wits ends. The recptacle seems to come on and off at random., Sometimes it stals on for days other times it stays on for minutes.

Welcome to the forums! It would be an open neutral, not a ground. You said the electrician checked the other receptacles, but did he check the one in question? If you paid him to fix the receptacle, call him back to fix it, as it apparently didn't get fixed the first time.

He did replace the recptacle in question and re-wired the others.

One thing you should remember is it might not be the receptacle that isn't working. It maybe another receptacle that feeds the one in question. Tell him to double check the connections again and any wire nuts in the boxes. I bet it will solve the problem if he does this properly and truely checks everyone.

I would locate the receptacle just before this one and check for loose wiring. He may have missed one.

Call Him Back

Agree with the others above. If you paid to fix it, then you should call the guy back.
