Adding a new circuit

Hi,
I want to install a new, dedicated circuit for a treadmill in my basment. My electircal panel is in the garage adjecent to the basement, so running the wire should be reletively easy.

My main question (for now) is, what amp circuit breaker do I need? The treadmill has a built in 15 amp breaker, so I am assuming that the breaker I need for the panel should also be 15 amps...correct??

I have done minor electrical work before (recepticals and switches) but I have never worked inside the panel; however, I do know enough to turn off the main breaker and stay away from the lines coming in from outside...

For the most flexibility I would install a 20 amp circuit wired with #12 wire.
