Dimmer Question (New Home Owner)

I purchased and installed some track lighting. Whenever I turn the lights on full brightness with the dimmer switch they work fine.

Whenever I try to dim them they will begin fluttering on and off after about 10 seconds.

I am assuming that the connection is fine(based on them working fine at full power) and the dimmer is a nice single pole lutron dimmer that I have used in other places without problem.

Should I invest in a Lutron DLLV-600PL Dalia Single-pole 600 Watts Magnetic Low Voltage Dimme ? Do you guys think that might solve my problem?

Thanks for your time.

Are you using CFL's? They aren't happy with dimmers.

If your track lighting is low voltage it probably will not work with a dimmer. You will need to contact the LV system manufacturer to get a list of approved dimmers. Sometimes a generic magnetic or electronic dimmer is okay, but sometimes you must get a special dimmer which is compatible with the LV transformer.

If the lamps are fluorescent or compact fluorescent they are not compatible with a dimmer.
