hi all: I am at my fathers place, and am hoping you can help as i am leaving soon and a bit of a newbie. he is currently running a garage door opener through a light switch with a receptacle bulb connection for the opener's plug. I wanted to replace one of the switches with a receptacle but want to be sure i have the wiring correct. i have a red wire going to the top of one switch and a black going to the top of the other. one white and one ground are coming in and are pigtailed to the bottom of both. there also appears to be a wire in the pack that has been cut back. can i make this work? thanks for your help.

I was reading in my manual how I should remove and attach the battery cables on my Saturn. And as far as I understood it, the electron flow would be from the negative terminal to the positive. The book stated you would want to remove the negative wire first when unhooking the battery and reverse that when rehooking up the battery. This made sense to me. You should have it grounded first before hooking it back up and you should unhook it while the ground is still there. But then I went to another car battery and found it to be set up with an extra wire from the positive to the fusebox and one extra wire from the negative to the frame. Wouldn't that be a short? Am I totally mistaken on how the current flows? Is it from positive to negative?
