Cable Type?

I've been asked to help identify a cable type based only on a description (unfortunately, no picture).

The cable is flat and gray, and very similar to a type UF cable in appearance and construction. There are two separate conductors embedded in the insulation, which from the description appear to be AWG 8 stranded aluminum.

These conductors and insultion form the interior part of the cable. Apparently, this part of the cable is overlaid and contained within a braided aluminum conductor, over which there is an exterior insulating jacket forming the outer cable sheathing.

Any idea as to what type of cable this is? Unfortunately, there are no specifications on the cable sheathing.

Thanks!

Sounds like SE cable to me. Commonly used for service entrances and some larger appliances.

look on the side of the cable. All electrical cable must be labeled. Being able to read it if it is old is another thing but it most likely was labeled at one time.

It might have had identification at one time but it is now no longer visible. The pdf file with the SE cable picture sure does look like the description.

Thanks everyone!
