I have five #14 wires running throught a 70foot plastic conduit to my swimming pool motor. It appears to have one or two wires broken inside the PVC. (I checked the current with multimeter and noticed no power running through two brn/blk wires.) I assume that I will need to pull new wire which might be difficult since the PVC conduit is 25 years old. Any further testing recommended before pulling new wire?

Location: Maryland All my interior walls are 5" thick including drywall and studs. I am not gutting the whole kitchen, but I do need to convert a 5" thick 62" length of wall into a 3" to 4" thick 30" length of wall. There is a double switch plate in this wall that controls kitchen and dining room lights. Both these lights can be controlled from 2 locations (both sides of kitchen and both sides of dining room). (This wall is definitely not load bearing.) Is there a rule about minimum wall thickness for walls with wiring? For the dining room, the new switch location will be further from the light than the original location. If I find a convenient place to locate a junction box, can I seal a junction box inside the wall and extend a new wire from the old wire to get the additional length needed to get to new switch location, or do I have to run a new wire all the way from the light to new switch, or is there some better third option? Please confirm that my fridge does not really need its own circuit. Current fridge location does not have its own circuit. With new location, there are many other outlets on that circuit, but most are rarely used for anything except a laptop. (Most of them are in the dining room).
