How many wires can I fit into a wire cap?

The size that I'm working with says minimum 2 #14 and maximum 5 #12. I need to cap together six #14 wires; I think it's a reasonable assumption that I can connect six wires. I did a test with some scraps of wire and the cap held all six wires tightly; I couldn't dislodge them. Is there any reason I can't do this?

I just want to validate my assumption. Thanks.

If the cap will hold 5 #12's, then it will hold 6 #14's.

I'm guessing your using reds. 6 #14's sound acceptable for that size.

If you want to be certain, and you don't have the manufacture's chart handy, each manufacturer will a have a link on their site to a document with the UL listing for each model and size of their connectors. For example here's the
Ideal Industries listing for their standard "Wire-Nut" type connectors.

Yes, I'm using the big reds, and based on your answers I feel safe enough to proceed as planned. Thanks everyone for your advice.
