On a electrical outlet. Better to screw down wires or push them in the back????

installed some outlets just wondering which is better...I know simply pushing them in the hole is easier?

The screw provides a much better connection. The push-in loosens up over time and sometimes burns off the wire.

Thats of course if you are talking about the push in spring tension type. They also have some that you put the wire in the hole, then clamp it with the screw (I think those are called "back-wired"?)...and as long as the screw is what holds it tight..those are fine.

As Ben said...the spring tension are great for new construction..just strip and push..even your helper can do it quickly. Some of the Pro's here have mentioned thats the first thing they do when they move to a house...move all the wires to the screws..
