Wiring around heating ducts

What is the best way to get a wire around a heat duct in the basement ceiling. The duct fills out the joist cavity. I plan to drywall the ceiling later

If it's a hot air duct, you have to go around it, over or under doesn't matter. If it's a cold air return boxed into the joist space, you can go through it perpendicular. Caulk the bore holes after the cable is through.

Not an electrician here ,
I read on the Electrical Code Simplified[Ontario]:

''loomex cable to be kept at least 25mmm [1''] away from all heating ducts and hot water pipes, a chunk of building insulation may be placed between the cable and the duct''

Dont know how accuarate this is, I found that this book contains some info not applicable in Ontario .
