Replacing fan with can lights in ceiling

Pulling out fan and using that circuit to run 6 cans in ceiling. They will be in rectangle shape but I cant connect in series as I have big beam in middle. What is best way to get power to each light? Run 3 14/2wires (romex) to first can (power in) and 1 wire to each "side" of rectangle (basically making first can a junction box)? Or do a junction box and run 2 "legs from there?

Either way is okay. Cans usually have a pretty big j-box so it takes a lot of cables to overfill it. It should be fine assuming you're using #14 on a 15A circuit.
