Tell us what you plan to plug in. If it is a 120/240v appliance such as a dryer or stove you have the wrong receptacle and plug. If it is a heater or welder or air compressor the white wire is caped and only the black and red are used.

Question good thread

it seems like im having a similar problem and also i would liek to know if there is any way i can get around with this outlet to use an adapter so that i can plug in a heat press or a direct to garment printer or a flash dryer that has a standard us/canada 110v plug.these are the thing that a 15 amp outlet at home wont boost enough power into that why this is my only chance.

im thinking doing it this way,

nema 650 (50 amp-250v) >>> adapter >>> stepdown transformer from 220-240v to 110v >>> heat press (20 amp requirement)..

i hope someone can help me though this as well.

thanks

Welcome to the forums! If it has a 120v plug, then it is wired for 120 volts, right? Why would you want to plug it into a 240 volt receptacle? What is the voltage/amperage requirement of the machine(s) on the nameplate?

just put in a 20 amp outlet instead of messing with 220 and transformers
