240 volt A/C question

240 volt A/C question

you sound like your are really in to this maybe you can help me i got a 20A 250V outlet for a AC unit but i got 4 wires coming from my breaker box (red black white and copper ) but i only have 3 screws on my outlet ... i know the coper goes on the green screw but what about the other ones???

It sounds like you bought a 4 wire outlet instead of a 3 wire one. If your AC is 220v then it dosent need a neutral. Does the plug on the AC match the outlet you bought? If so, the just wire it up with the ground black and red wires and youll be fine.
