Doerr electric motor...

Hello members, I have a Doerr electric motor M# LR22132-1HP/1725 RPM.
This motor has a "Thermal" protection shut-down feature.

The feature works great! and that's my problem. The cause of this would be coming from where?? The Capacitor?? the Motor??... Does anyone have a tip that could help me out.

This Motor runs a Treadmill. It's getting hot at just under a mile. Thanks for any help.

Did the problem just start? How old is the treadmill?

Yes, just started yesterday. The age would be 15-plus years I would guess. The unit was not used that much (if it matters) it was given to me by a very close friend that had foot problems. Heavy duty Treadmill. Thanks for your reply.

It could be that the belt on the treadmill is restricted from running freely by a possible bad bearing or bad belt and overloading the motor making it run hot. I'd check that first and if all appears to be right, remove the motor and take it to a motor shop to be checked out. You may have to just replace the motor.
