old wiring...new switch

I want to replace a standard wall switch with a timer switch - the problem is that the wiring is old... only a single wire coming into the the light switch, and another single wire leaving from the light switch. No ground wire. Assuming the neutral is located up at the light somewhere??

The timer switch has a black, blue and white lead. If I determine which is Line and which is Load can I wire new switch with black lead to Line and then wire both the blue and white leads to Load?

This box only has a switch leg, so that timer is incompatible with your wiring. You'll need to get a timer that does not require a neutral wire to use in this box.

Crap. Is that a common type of timer that I can pick up at any home improvement store or is it a special order kind of thing??
