light keeps burning out

Overhead light in kitchen keeps buring out. Have gone through three different bulbs in the past couple of weeks. There are two sockets for bulbs in this light & it is the bulb in the same socket that keeps burning out. Our light has insulation & what looks like tin foil between the bulbs & the wiring box/ceiling. Could the foil touching the bulb be the cause of the burn out? The house is only 3 years old & this is the only electrical problem we have had. Any suggestions/thoughts/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I suspect you have a loose connection that has caused damage to the socket in question, you may be using light bulbs rated more than the maximum allowed as stamped on the fixture, you are using cheap bulbs that burn out quickly, you are leaving the fixture on 24 hours a day causing continuous use building up heat in a light fixture that is designed for intermittent use. [3 hours or less]
Check the socket for damage, check the above possiblilities, and if none of the above solves the question then try buying a screw in flourescent adapter bulb and install it in the place of the regular bulb.
Good Luck
