no ground in wall j box

Just replaced a light switch in the wall in a 35 y/o house. I saw just two wires coming through the junction box, both are black, one of the two had electrical tape wrapped around it (probably the hot, I guess). There is no ground screw on the junction box, and that box appeared to be plastic. The new switch has three wires - two black & one ground (green). So I wired black (switch) to black (box) twice and just capped the green with a wire nut. Was that right? I'm concerned about the ground for that switch.

Thanks!

In your case, given the plastic box, the ground is left unconnected.
