Mysterious Breaker

So here is the story. I received a bill from my electric company for $500. Our bills are supposed to run around $150 with our small 2/1 house. We called up our electric company about the high bill and they sent out someone to do an audit. They found out that there was a problem with one of breakers and we were using 198 kwp per day instead of our usual 34 kwp per day. The thing is, we have no idea where the breaker is going to. We have the breaker off right now and everything in our house is on and running fine. Our landlord will be calling an electrician in the near future but I'm just curious what it could be running to or if any one has had the same situation. Thanks for any responses.

If this is a duplex or apartment I'd say another apartment. Not uncommon on a shared wall.

198 kwp per day
Was this a 2 pole 40 or 50 amp breaker? If I did the math correctly that would be almost 35 amps continuous draw. That sounds like a heater. Does the house have central heat? If so have you identified the breakers for the heat? Can you post a picture of the breaker box?

Faulty water heater? Faulty underground cable? Electric heat or AC stuck on?
