Changing from a three way switching scenario to single pole switch

Guys, I have to change a three way setup to a single pole. Correct me if I'm wrong, please but what I had in mind was to find the line in conductor in the first box and connecting that to the line in on my first and only switch and connecting the travellers in that box with a jumper to the load side. Finding that i would go to second switch and connect the travellers together with the common conductor on second switch together. That should give me connection to the light, correct?

There are probably half a dozen ways your existing three-way circuit could be installed. We'll need to know which cables go where, where power comes in, and the wiring at the light box to know the correct way to convert the circuit to single-pole.

If this three-way circuit covers multiple floors of a staircase it cannot legally be converted.

One room only installation, no stairway or anything involved. In first box I have the feed black going to common white capped with another white feeding the light. black and white on traveller posts.
2nd box has black and white on travellers.black on common going to light and white connection for neutral at the light.
thanx for quick reply.

Duh, never mind---got it. Took the feed for hot side and connected the black travelling wire to the other side of switch, went to 2nd box and connected the black to black in that box, capped the other just because and it works fine.
