Anything wrong or unusual about running lights on a 20 amp circuit breaker with 12-2 wire ? I'm going to have 9 lights on it, one wil be an outlet with 2 flourescent lights plugged into it, the rest will be just plain porceline, (sp?), light fixtures.

No that should be fine. The receptacle by 08 code may need to be GFCI if in an unfinished basement or garage. If you do use a GFCI wire the next light from the line side so you don't loose it if the GFCI trips.
