Is there any way that i can become a journeyman before the 5 year mark?

It depends on your location and the requirements of your state. In Minnesota you are required to have 8000 hours (approximately 4 years) of on the job experience before you may take the journeyman's test. If you go to a trade school, it counts as 2000 hrs of your apprenticeship. Either way you still need to pass the journeyman test.
