idea of running a new circuit

idea of running a new circuit

i am going to run a new circuit for a window ac. i need help when i get to garage. the ceiling has dry wall. the floor joist i think run agianst me .
my questions are . can i run the wire along the wall or tac it to the ceiling.
or if they do run with me can juet lay the wire in the ceiling. i know he doesn't what to put holds in the ceiling. the main panel is in the garage. and the room is above the garage and the walls are blocks.

Just run the wire in EMT. It looks professional, too.

You can run it in a surface mounted conduit. EMT, PVC, or wiremold would all be acceptable in this case. The wire or cable cannot be stapled to the ceiling without some form of protection.

Yes, cables fished through finished wall spaces do not need to be stapled when they are inaccessible. I would avoid penetrating the garage ceiling as it should be a rated firewall. If you do punch a hole, be sure to seal it back up in a way that complies with your local fire code.
