1800 watt requirements

1800 watt requirements

is a 15 amp gfi outlet sufficient for a 1800 watt Breville convection toaster oven???please be specific..

If the plug from the factory fits in to the receptacle and the receptacle is on a 20A circut, then yes. DO NOT USE THIS WITH AN EXTENSION CORD SMALLER THAN 14-12 AWG.

Extension cords are for temporary use only. They should not be used.

As Justin said, if the plug on the cord of the oven is the 15 amp configuration then you are fine pluging it into a 15 amp GFI. 15 amp receptacles have the same inside parts as 20 amp.

mine is a 20 amp... btw , my romex is yellow 12g I think...if I end up putting in a separate circuit for this oven..unlikely... should I use 10g/3??

There would be no reason to use 3-conductor cable and unless your kitchen is more then 300 feet from the breaker box no need to use #10.

1800 watts / 120 volts = 15 amps.
