AC Disconnect Box type

What are the guidelines regarding metallic verses non-metallic for disconnect boxes. SquareD has a nice non-metallic 60A disconnect box. Since I live near the ocean and I see rusted boxes all the time I thought a non-metallic would be a good choice. Are these universally excepted or are there many area that don't allow them?

I don't know why a non metallic disconnect box would be banned. It is the inner workings that cause the disconnect, not the box. Tell us which box (make and model) just so we can be sure we're on the same page.

I would think any listed disconnect would be accepted.
