Low voltage problem on porch light

Trying to help my son's voltage problem.. The porch light won't light up.. so I check the voltage at the switch (both sides with the switch on) and only get 54 volts AC. I think that is really odd. The rest of the outlets, etc on that curcuit breaker branch work great and measure 120 volts.. Bad neutral connection somewhere ?

You normally don't measure voltage at a switch. Did you measure each side to a known good ground or neutral if present? Does power come in at the light or switch?
