60 amp breaker

Can one 60 amp breaker run 4 heating elements in a 20 kw furnace?

Assuming the 20 kW is broken down as four 5kW elements the answer is no. Sixty amperes at 240 volts is 14.4 kW. Branch circuits for heating loads must be designed to 125% of the full load so a 20 kW heater would require no less than 84 amperes on the branch circuit or more likely two circuits of at least 45 amperes each.

Unless, of course, you have something other than 240 volts single phase supply and load.

Although I used to love everything about electric heat except paying the electric bill, as I recall from many years ago, a typical 2 circuit 20 KW furnace would require 2 - 60 amp circuits and a typical 1 circuit 20 KW furnace required a 110 amp circuit.
