Generator Test

Hi, Hopefully I have the right category here...so my home has a guardian elite backup generator connected to our electrical system. It is natural gas powered, and the ignition is connected to the home's wiring so that in the even of a power outage it would automatically start. It does not start though. I know it has not been fired up in over a year, so I went out today and got a new battery to replace it. I am wondering through, how should I go about testing it once I have the new battery connected? There is a switch on the junction box located near the generator for testing, so assuming this thing will fire up, how do I shut it off? Any tips/suggestions?

Any wisdom & guidance is appreciated!

Well you should tune the thing up before you try to test it. Could the motor be seized???

Oil change, plugs, electrical check, gas line check...etc

The there should be a manual test option switch. Test and run modes???

Whats the exact model#.
