My problem is I have a light fixture whose black and white wires are ten gauge. However, the wires coming out of the ceiling are 14 gauge. I realize I am not able to hook these two together, is there any alternative? preferrably without buying a new light fixture? i.e. some type of an adapter, regulator, etc.
Please any help??????????

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that you are not able to hook these two together. Any old yellow wire nut is just perfect to connect one #10 to one #14.

I wonder why a light fixture supplies 10 ga fixture wire. Is there something special about this light fixture like two cases of light bulbs on that fixture?

I would investigate further--a 10 gauge wire is probably connected to a 30 amp breaker. Does the circuit feed anything else? I would not connect 14 gauge wire to a 10 gauge--30 amp circuit.
