Interruptor wall switch that goes nowhere !

Hi !

Somewhere in my house i have a triplle wall swith. One of them goes to ceiling light, the other one goes to light in the hallway bu i can't figure where the third one goes. This third switch is plugged but doesn't seem to activate anything. Is there a way I can figure where it goes ?

Thanks a lot !

Where is this triple (3-gang) switch box located, exactly. And are you willing to open it up to see what wires are connected to it?

One guess is that it goes to a receptacle - maybe only the top half of a duplex receptacle.

What is "plugged"? Have you removed the power to that set of switches and pulled the switch? What color wires are attached? How many screws (excluding the green) are there on the switch? Was there ever a ceiling fan associated with the room light the other switch operates?

First guess is a second switch leg to the ceiling light for a fan/light combo. Is there a red or black wire on it?
