putting speakers together

It would be an understatement to say that I'm a noob at what concerns putting together electronic devices. Therefore, I have decided to ask a few questions in here, as I'm planning to put together a larger system of speakers.
I have on the picture included two of some of my speakers. First of all:
What is the easiest way to put two such speakers together such that:
1) An ipod can go into them
2) They can be connected to a car battery

If you guys can give me some links that describes how to do this as well as hint me to what devices I need to buy to put them together, I would be glad.

You need an amplifier to run the speakers.

You'll need an Ipod player/adaptable amplifier that runs off 12vdc. You can't just hook an Ipod and car battery to the speakers. That is unless you kiss the Ipod good bye first.
