Low voltage lighting - transformer timer dial gets stuck when turning lights on

The timer on the transformer for the landscape lights in the front of our house will sometimes get stuck and not turn the lights on - the timer is the dial type, with little red and black tabs to set the turn-on and turn-off times.
I can rotate the dial by hand through the full cycle of turn-on, turn-off, and turn-on again, so its not locked up, and the lights come on just fine.
It doesn't get stuck every time, maybe 75%, but only at the turn-on tab.

What can I do to troubleshoot this problem - is there something I can do to loosen up the movement?

Thanks

I doubt it is repairable. You can contact the manufacturer. Maybe they will send you a replacement free as a goodwill gesture.
