switch / outlet combo wiring question

I have a three way switch set up in my kitchen for my kitchen lights. I want to replace one of the switches with a switch / outlet conbo and wire it so that the switch still retains the three way function, and the outlet has continuous power. The folks at Home Depot says this is not possible. Is this true?

It is possible with the correct switch, a switch HD, may not carry, if you have a neutral in the switch box. If you have a neutral (white wires are NOT always neutral wires) and one switch is a "single location" switch, not a 3-way that would be the easier switch to replace.
