2012 Ontario Electrical Safety Code changes for kitchen receptacles

Someone told me that the code requirement for adjacent 20A duplex kitchen counter receptacles "shall not be connected to the same branch circuit" has been cancelled. Can anyone confirm this for me as we are renovating our Legion kitchen.
Thanks,

I've been researching the rules for kitchen counter receptacles, and from what I've read, it looks like that is true (the requirement has been dropped).

Here is the ESA bulletin from September 2005 that says that (on page 2, in red): http://www.aciss.ca/docs/bathroomgfi.pdf

And here's what appears to be proposals for amendments to the CSA standards (which the federal and provincial codes are based on). See the last bit on page 3: http://www.electrical-contractor.net...ional/3130.PDF
