My dogs chewed through my AC wiring. Please help.

Hello guys first of all I appreciate the help. \

I have some things that you might find useful, my inside thermostat and the inside fan works and comes on, the outside AC unit does not power up.

I have 2 colored wires coming from the unit outside Red/White

The red one is still connected to the YELLOW coming from the house ( secured with a blue wire nut )

The white wire is hanging and the colors left available coming from the house are .... Green, Brownish, Red, White, and Blue...

So the Red is connected to yellow... Where does the White go? So confused..

Something is missing ? A junction box or disconnect. A picture a little further way would probably be a big help too.

On edit: Make sure the breaker to your outside unit is off in case it didn't trip.

This is the exact area that is disconnected, this is right where the wires come out of the wall. I could back the camera up a bit, but youll still just see those wires there is nothing else. 8(

I couldn't get my bearing from your first pic....actually the second one didn't help much but you said it's where wires come out of house. So you have many wires coming out of the house and only a few connected to the a/c unit. These wires were just previously spliced right there with no box of any kind ?

And everything was working PERFECT until yesterday when I discovered the one wire hanging free.

Ok....you have an old 6 wire thermostat cable exiting your house and the condenser has 3 wires. There was a splice made right at that point. Not the most ideal way to do things. My thoughts are you are going to have to look inside the house, follow that 6 wire cable to your inside unit and look to see what colors are connected in there.

Coming from your outdoor unit I see red, white and green. Usually only two are needed. I see you have the cover off.....did they only use two ?

Just a code note assuming 240 volts the white wire should have been re-designated as a "hot on both ends using colored tape, felt tip marker or paint. Any color except white, gray, or green is acceptable.

assuming 240 volts
It looks and sounds like the OP needed to reconnect the control wiring. The power for the compressor appears to to be run in the liquidtight from a disconnect further up the wall, and passes this location on the right.

Thus the dog is still in good health.
