i just bought a 5 hp motor with 230/460 volt how do i hook it up to run an air

can any one help i need step by step instructions

On the motor or inside the junction box there should be a wiring diagram. What voltage are you going to use it on ? Big motor......hi amperage. Probably like 25-30 amps at 230 ? volts. A picture of that wiring diagram would be a big help or make and model of the motor.

One thing....is this a single phase motor ? If it's a 3 phase then you'll need 3 phase power.

I have never seen a 230/460 volt motor that was not three-phase.

I agree. Sounds like 3 phase to me. Hope you can get your money back. That's a lot to spend on something you can't use. Plus 5 HP is a whopping lot to power an air conditioner fan.
