Rewinding transformer coils

I was rewinding the secondary of a microwave transformer. Then, i accidentaly cut the primary.I would like to know if it is possible to wind a new primary, and how many turns it must have, and the wire gauge.I'm going to make a step down transformer 127v to 5v, and it must be capable to supply at least 50 amps at 5v.It's a very big and heavy transformer it may work.
