Any Objections using a Larger Cable than Needed...

So there is a decent DEAL on CL for 8/5 SOOW.
Closest thing to 10/4 SOOW in which I was looking for - for genset cord.

8/5 is obviously much bulkier than the 10/4 I was looking to buy.
The cordage is new, USA Carol cable.

I would obviously not need the 5th wire in the bundle.
I DON'T Expect to realistically use the cord - except Maybe Once a Year. Realistically, it will probably average out to maybe every 2-3 years.

So aside from me not using the 5th wire in a 4 wire plug/connector setup, any objections on me using this the 8/5 for the intended setup...

It will perform marvelously.

It will actually move the current faster because it's bigger.

Might be a little tough getting it in the caps.

I noticed with the Leviton plug I just bought, you may have to remove the spaced on the cable clamp so the 8 awg will fit properly. The directions will have all pertinent info.

Heh. The Electrons will move faster...

Drooplug got it deadon. It did not even register how it would fit on the connector...Not worth exploring then.

I dug out the instruction sheet and Leviton's 30A - 4 wire plug will accommodate 14/4-8/4. You need the 5 wire plug to fit 8/5.
