Flickering lights through out the whole house. Need advice!
We've suddenly started to notice flickering lights in the dining room light. This was three months ago. Now it's gotten worse. The lights dim or turn very bright. Electricity goes goes down to 100 or up to 130. It fluctuates and is very random at all times. For example, today I had the light in the living room on and the ceiling fan. It dimmed and I turned off the lamp and the ceiling fan light would become brighter. Earlier in the morning all the lights in the kitchen turned dim. Almost seemed like we were going to lose power. We've changed the breaker box. It's all new. We've called the power company twice and they say it was not on their end. My husband has changed the plugs on the wall and the issue still continues. Checked the wires in the attic. We've shut off breakers and left some on to see if the flickering continues or stops. Well it continued even though part of the house lights were shut off. We do have a smart meter and have had it about 2 yrs now. We haven't had issues with it but I suggested to my husband it would be a good idea to have the meter socket changed since our house is 30 yrs old. Perhaps this is what is wrong. We're very frustrated and need suggestions.

If this is throughout the house the problem is in the panel or the power company equipment. Since you have said the power company cannot find it I would suggest calling an electrician. Sooner rather than later.

I would agree with pcboss. The problem could be in your panel or meter socket which generally is the customer's responsibility. That being said, many power companies will check into problems in the meter socket as a courtesy. Some will even look into problems in the customer's panel too, but they are not obligated to do this, it's your responsibility.
