Laundry Room GFCI

Laundry Room GFCI
I was just reading some ancient posts concering the requirement of a GFCI in a landry room. Is that still the case even when there is not sink, just washer/dryer?

I'd be interested to hear what some of the master electricians here say but looking at the California code, you aren't required to put a GFCI in a laundry room. You are required to protect all outlets within 6 feet of the edge of a laundry room sink with a GFCI. Now, if there is a condition about the room that would lead it to be a damp or wet location, then you might need to use GFCI anyway.
NY might be a little different. CA is still on the 2008 NEC.

Yes......I'm fairly certain that hasn't changed. If there is no sink then a GFI receptacle is not required.

"All codes is local."
That said, the NEC does not require any GFCI protection in a laundry room. It does require it within 6' of the closer edge of any sink, including a laundry sink.
